Bear Lake December 2018

December 29, 2019 marked the beginning of a Buhler Family Adventure!! At the very end of caravanning to Bear Lake, Travis’s family got stuck going up the hill. Christian, Aaron and Carter came to the rescue and in the end reversed the van up the hill to the cabin. The kids wasted no time in bonding with a car track, water painting and playing pool. After a super packed sacrament meeting, we all dressed for a family picture. Gotta love when the photographer (Kathy) gets stuck but in the end a tripod was all we needed. Later in the evening Annette pulled out a bucket of candy and we made our traditional gingerbread houses. Monday we rented 5 snowmobiles and within the first ride all had been flipped. Luckily no one was hurt and tons of fun was had. Hot tubing, chatting, watching movies and games filled the evening. Tuesday a $35 dollar tarp pulled behind Papa’s truck was a whole lot of red neck fun! The kids played king of the tarp and it’s lucky they all made it back up the road. The kids sled down the street on their bellies and looked like little penguins. It was pretty dang fast! Addy pulled a crazy Ivan and tried to sled behind a reversing truck. More games were played and one night we played winner, winner chicken dinner. Some genius brought a recorder for our listening enjoyment! Also Izzy organized a karaoke night with Eliana bravely starting us off, Jocelyn melted our heart with Up Down, Cole and Peter Brody displayed some skill, and Lucy had Uncle Brody wrapped around her little finger with multiple Let it Go renditions. Mom and Dad planned yummy meals and rented a perfect cabin. We are all so grateful to them for their sacrifice to get us together! I personally love chatting with my sisters, getting to know my nieces and nephews, playing games and having the time to hang out with each other. The strength of our family can rescue us in our hills and valleys of life. Our kids will be immeasurably blessed by these relationships. Keeping Christ in our lives will give us the traction we need to climb higher. Love ya’ll and hoping to do this again soon!!

  2. I also want to include some missionary stories we have had this week. Even if no one reads, it will be a great place to look back at for us. Yes, we do love our mission and yes, miracles are happening.
We have been very busy and there are many different places to be happening all at the same time. I have been chosen to attend the trainings for the upcoming Spanish Devotional. Four stakes that each have a Spanish speaking branch/ward have combined to have a devotional and from there form classes for the Spanish speaking community. I have loved being involved and love, love, love these people. Three Self Reliance Specialists have been chosen from three of the wards and last week I trained them to train their facilitators. It was a beautiful time spent with them. Yesterday they trained the facilitators. They were concerned about who actually would attend that training as none of us had access to the names of the facilitators or were involved in contacting them. The attendance was overwhelming with 8 facilitators there for the training. Since yo no hablo espanol, , I was concerned that I would not know if everything was going as it should. My prayer was exactly that, "Heavenly Father, you know I don't speak Spanish and I probably won't know if the training is not going as it should, so will you please fix it if it needs to be fixed. " Miraculously that happened. All of the people attending could speak English, but Spanish is their first language and the language they will be facilitating their classes in, so that was spoken. However, one of the trainees had already been a facilitator in a Gringo Stake and knew exactly how things should go. I could tell things weren't going exactly as they should but, since I didn't understand exactly what was being said, didn't know how to step in to help. But Heavenly Father did and fixed it by having someone who has already participated be part of this group. I was able to clarify the questions that they asked me in English and it was again a wonderful time spent in the Lord's service. This is an inspired Initiative and blesses lives. I'm so grateful that it can now bless the lives of our Spanish Speaking brothers and sisters. I can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for these Stakes. MIRACLES WILL HAPPEN. I'll be reporting them here.
